Children, Teenagers and Young People
- Timothy

Acts 16:3-5

"Him would Paul have to go forth with him; and took and circumcised him because of the Jews which were in those quarters: for they knew all that his father was a Greek. And as they went through the cities, they delivered them the decrees for to keep, that were ordained of the apostles and elders which were at Jerusalem. And so were the churches established in the faith, and increased in number daily."

1 Timothy 4:12, 14-16

"Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity."

"Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee."

2 Timothy 1:1-3

"Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus, to Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day."

1 Timothy 5:23

"Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach’s sake and thine often infirmities."

TIMOTHY, A DISCIPLE OF PAUL

God raised Paul as a father, a disicpler that will take Timothy to the next stage of his walk with the Lord which will launch him into the ministry.

Paul’s concern for Timothy covered his spiritual life and his physical well-being.
His mother and grandmother laid the foundation, just as some of us are laying, but the gap or omission is that when these children have outgrown our discipleship, there are no fathers or mothers to take them out of our hands and push them into the next level.

They are left uncatered for and unattended to; and they lose their consecration, passion and in some cases, their faith.

God’s aim, plan, and purpose for the church is for young people to be disicipled until, they also can become ministers of the same gospel that they have received.

PRAYER POINTS

  • Lord, please make us, send us fathers, mothers, disicplers, handlers, nurses who will take Your young people to the next level in their walk with you.
  • Lord, please send to Your young people disicplers who will carry them along, and pour into them what they have received from the Lord; who will take notice of young men and women of good report.
  • Lord, we beg of you this day, please send labourers, nurses, midwives into the nation of children and young people.
  • The harvest of young people is ripe and rotting; please our Lord of the harvest, please send men, women, brothers, sisters who have received, believed and imbibed the true gospel, who are authentic followers of Jesus Christ who will teach, train , show our young people the way to go and help launch them into their destiny in ministering the gospel to their own generation, in Jesus' name.
  • Lord, do not let the passion for Your name fizzle out, diminish, and finish in the hands of our youth. Lord, please fan the passion for Your name to a greater height in the hearts of our young people.

TIMOTHY DISICIPLED INTO MINISTRY

1 Corin 4:14:17
"I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you. For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me. For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach everywhere in every church."

2 Timothy 2:1-2

"Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also."

1 Thessalonians 3:1-2

"Wherefore when we could no longer forbear, we thought it good to be left at Athens alone; and sent Timotheus, our brother, and minister of God, and our fellow labourer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith."

PRAYER POINTS

  • Let us pray for our children, teenagers, young men and women and ask that the Lord will make them faithful to the gospel they have received.
  • Lord please do not let the world, its systems, its practices, its children, its expectations, its pressures, turn them to become faithless and unbelieving in the gospel.
  • Lord, please make them strong in the grace that is found in Christ Jesus; let them see, understand, appropriate this grace in every area of their lives.
  • Lord, please let the grace that accompanies every word of the gospel and doctrine of Christ be made available to them in Jesus' name, so they can be an example of the believer in word, in deed, in action, in thoughts, in every area of their lives.
  • Let our young people not despise their youth and look upon themselves as youth or children; please help them by the Holy Ghost to step up with Your power to put to use the gift of God deposited in them.
  • The gift of teaching, of praying, of administration, of living in and of understanding, Holy Ghost please bring them out of our young people in Jesus' name.

PRAYER POINTS
  • Lord, please let them give themselves wholly to the truth of the gospel; let them mediate on these things; let them throw their lives hook line and sinker into the living the gospel and making the gospel known.
  • Every other way, every other life, every other pursuit that makes the gospel to be in the back burner of their heart, or that makes the gospel even non-existent to them, Lord, please we beg you, uproot them out of their hearts, out of their lives in the name of Jesus.
  • Please Holy Spirit, let the gospel profit them and let this be evident in their lives.
  • Lord, please do not let all Your labour over the lives of our young people to be in vain.

Like Timothy please raise our young people as sons, able ministers of the gospel and fellow labourers with others who are labouring for revival in our generation.
